Jamavars of India. "Jama" means robe and "var" stands for the yard. Kings or Royal members used to buy the woven fabric by the yard, wearing it as a gown or using it as a Wrap or Shawl. The base of Jamavar is always wool or wool blend. The art of weaving a Jamavar is painstaking & intricate. Several little wooden shuttles of different colors were used for a single weft line of the fabric. Weeks of hard work meant one Jamavar, creating elegant & glorious ensemble fit for one & all.
